Cho highlighted the constitutional importance of the Control Yuan as an oversight body, stressing that legislators should focus on the qualifications of nominees rather than allowing political biases to influence their decisions. He underscored the necessity for a prompt evaluation process to ensure that the institution can fulfill its role effectively.
The premier also pointed to the critical nature of the NCC’s responsibilities, which have been hampered by the lack of commissioners. The NCC is tasked with vital operations such as regulating telecommunications and renewing broadcasting licenses, and its current inability to perform these duties could have significant implications for the sector.
Critics have expressed concern that the Control Yuan’s current inoperability might impede timely investigations into alleged misconduct by senior public figures, potentially delaying justice and accountability.
