‘China is Always Looking for an Edge,’ Trump Says Ahead of Summit

by admin477351

President Donald Trump expressed deep suspicion of China’s negotiating tactics ahead of his summit with President Xi Jinping, warning that “China is always looking for an edge.”
This wariness complicates the talks, which Trump confirmed are happening in two weeks. “I don’t know what’s going to happen. We’ll see what happens,” he said, injecting uncertainty into the diplomatic process.
The president’s comments come as he also admitted his own tariff policy is “not sustainable.” He blamed China for this, claiming “they forced me to do that.”
This creates a complex dynamic: Trump must negotiate a “fair deal” with a partner he believes is “always looking for an edge,” while using leverage he admits he cannot maintain.
The talks are under pressure from a November 10 truce deadline. This truce has paused a trade war that saw duties threaten 145%, and its expiration could reignite the conflict.
