On Monday, a significant milestone was reached as Dublin Airport inaugurated its first direct flight to Shanghai, China’s most populous city. This new non-stop route, operated by China Eastern Airlines, marks a notable expansion in Ireland’s aviation connections with Asia.
The service will operate thrice weekly using the Airbus A350-900 aircraft, setting a record as the longest scheduled non-stop flight from Dublin Airport. This development is anticipated to enhance travel, tourism, trade, and educational links between Ireland and China, according to airport operator daa.
China Eastern Airlines, headquartered in Shanghai and a member of the SkyTeam alliance, offers extensive flight networks across Europe, Asia, Oceania, North America, South America, and the Middle East. The introduction of this route is seen as a major enhancement to Dublin Airport’s long-haul flight offerings, opening up new avenues for passengers between the two nations.
