China is set to embark on its National Science Popularization Month, an initiative designed to enhance public comprehension of scientific innovation and bolster science literacy across the country. The month-long campaign, themed “Science Transforms Lives, Innovation Secures the Future,” will unfold through a diverse array of exhibitions, lectures, science tours, and activities aimed at engaging the public.
In Beijing alone, more than 100 exhibitions and events are scheduled at major venues, providing ample opportunities for public participation. Additionally, national scientific societies will spearhead over 150 activities nationwide, focusing on making foundational research and emerging scientific developments more approachable for the general populace.
A notable aspect of the programme is the chance for visitors to explore laboratories and research facilities, offering a closer look at the latest advancements in science and technology. This hands-on experience is intended to demystify cutting-edge scientific progress and foster a deeper understanding of its impact on everyday life.
As part of the initiative, the 2026 World Conference on Science Literacy will take place in mid-September in Beijing. This event will gather representatives from various countries to deliberate on matters of science literacy and international collaboration, further emphasizing the importance of global unity in scientific endeavors.
