As Typhoon Bavi approaches Taiwan, New Taipei City has initiated precautionary measures by ordering evacuations in several mountainous areas vulnerable to the storm’s impact. Weather forecasts indicate that the typhoon could bring more than 500 mm of rain to the mountainous regions and northern coastal areas of New Taipei through Saturday. As of Thursday afternoon, Typhoon Bavi was positioned approximately 650 km east of Taiwan’s southern tip. The storm is moving with maximum sustained winds reaching 162 km/h, posing a significant threat to the affected regions.
